Herzing University-Akron

Akron Institute changed its name to Herzing University-Akron. Founded in 1970 at Akron Medical-Dental Institute, the campus was acquired in 2004 by Herzing and expanded its offerings to associate and bachelor’s degrees in health care, technology, business, design and public safety.

Entrepreneur magazine included Town Money Saver Inc. on its annual Franchise 500 list, an exclusive ranking of America’s top franchise opportunities.

SS&G

SS&G announced a merger with Silver, Lerner, Schwartz & Fertel, an accounting and business planning firm in the Chicago metropolitan area. The merger adds 45 professionals, doubling SS&G’s presence in the Chicago market.

Jim Haslam

The founder of Pilot Corp. and owner of the Cleveland Browns will received the NATSO Hall of Fame award, which recognizes individuals for notable participation in their communities, the truck stop and travel plaza industry.

Scott Salsbury

Scott Salsbury was designated a 2013 Super Lawyer by Ohio Super Lawyers magazine in the area of labor and employment.

Janet Jankura

Janet Jankura became a National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Fellow. It is considered the highest level of credentialing for corporate directors and corporate governance professionals. She serves as director on the board of Green Earth Technologies Inc.

International Association of Administrative Professionals — Tire Town Chapter

Students majoring in office administration, business administration or business technology are invited by the Tire Town Chapter of IAAP to apply for three scholarships of $2,000 each to be awarded based on academics and financial need. Students planning to attend or currently attending an area college in the fall of 2013, with a major in one of the fields, are eligible. Application deadline is March 5.
