Akron and Canton ADDY Awards honor local work

The top awards in the Akron-Canton advertising industry were presented in separate events Thursday and Friday nights.

The annual ADDY Awards are the first of the three steps of national competition by the American Advertising Federation (AAF).

Awards are given in 15 categories, including sales promotion, collateral, direct marketing, interactive and broadcast.

The Akron Chapter of the AAF held its ceremony Friday night at the Akron Urban League. Nearly 200 professionals and students from the Greater Akron advertising community attended and 60 professional awards and nine student awards were presented.

The Canton ADDYs were awarded Thursday at the Krassas Event Center in Canton. Nearly 200 people attended. There were 82 professional awards and five student awards.

Here are the top results for both events:

Akron ADDYS

Best of Show: 427 Design for Flite Test Poster.

Judge’s Choice Awards:

• Kent State University for the Mobius Fashion Guide produced for the Kent State University Fashion School.

• design x nine for the AAF-Akron Event Poster Series produced for AAF-Akron.

• Kent State University for the Title IX Poster created for the Title IX Sexual Assault Response Team.

Canton ADDYS

Best of Show: Innis Maggiore for SarahCare “Home By Dinner” ad campaign.

People’s Choice: Malone University for Legends Run Here poster.

Judge’s Choice Awards:

• Innis Maggiore for GuideStone “Your Future Starts Today” campaign.

• Grabowski & Co. for Employers Health Coalition Annual Report.

• Grabowski & Co. for Timken Corporate Overview.

• Cassel Bear for Miller’s Three-Business Brochure.
