Jubilee Kitchen Wax licensed
Family-owned Malco Products Inc. of Barberton is adding to its portfolio of household cleaning brands, licensing the longtime Jubilee Kitchen Wax from SC Johnson.
Jubilee joins other consumer products, including Zud Cleaner, Mr. Coffee Coffeemaker Cleaner and Grease Relief manufactured by Malco.
In addition to its Barberton headquarters and plant, Malco has manufacturing operations in Akron and Alliance.
JOB TRAINING
House consolidates programs
A divided House has passed Republican legislation that would end or consolidate dozens of duplicative job-training programs with the objective of making it easier for people to gain the skills they need. It’s a goal that President Barack Obama says he shares while disagreeing with the way the GOP would do it. The bill would also increase employers’ influence over who gets job training grants.
While there’s widespread agreement that current federal job-training programs are inefficient and overlapping, Democrats voted overwhelmingly against the bill, saying it would eliminate programs tailored to serve the most vulnerable and exclude union participation in shaping programs.
The 215-202 vote sends the bill to the Senate where the Democratic majority is likely to take a different approach to job training reform.

Ford cuts CEO compensation
Ford Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally’s compensation fell 29 percent to $20.95 million in 2012 as the company’s board weighed record North American profits and quality improvements against heavy losses in Europe and lower market share in the United States and elsewhere.
Ford reported Mulally’s compensation Friday in its annual proxy filing with the federal government.
Mulally, 67, earned $2 million in salary, the same as he earned in 2011. But bonus payments fell more than 20 percent to $3.9 million and his stock awards dropped by half to $6.8 million. He received $7.5 million in stock options, the same as in 2011.
Mulally also received $680,809 in other compensation, including the use of a private airplane, housing expenses and security. That was up slightly from 2011.
Nissan recalls new models
Nissan is recalling some of its newest models for an air-bag problem, but the automaker cannot say how many vehicles are affected, according to a report the automaker filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The vehicles are the 2013 Nissan Altima, Leaf, Pathfinder, Sentra and Infiniti JX35.
Nissan said the sensors on the front passenger seat might malfunction and turn off the air bag. Those sensors normally would turn off the air bag only if a small child was seated there or the seat was vacant.

Seminar on search techniques
Sage Lewis, owner of online marketing firm SageRock in Akron, will talk about Search Engine Optimization (SEO), using techniques to get websites to rank high in search results, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hudson Library & Historical Society.
Lewis’ talk — titled 10 Techniques for Topping Search Listings — will discuss meta tags, optimized content, site mapping, links, URL naming, local targeting, universal search, Google Place pages and other topics.

Chamber seeks nominations
The Greater Akron Chamber continues to accept nominations for this year’s 30 for the Future Awards.
The program honors young professionals who live and/or work in Greater Akron for their leadership and community service.
Nominations will be accepted through March 29. Each nominee will be required to complete the 30 for the Future Leadership Document, which includes questions about the nominee’s leadership skills and community activities.
Award recipients will be recognized at a celebration Sept. 12 at Tangier restaurant in Akron.
Nominees must be between the ages of 25 and 39 by March 29.
