COLUMBUS: Ohio motorists have seen gas prices shoot way up the past couple days.
The average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.92 in Wednesday’s survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express. At some stations around Ohio, it’s nearing $4 per gallon.
In the Akron area, prices ranged from $3.69 at multiple locations to $3.99, again at multiple locations.
The state average is about 16 cents more than two days ago, and 18 cents more than this time last month.
Among the reasons are disruptions caused by Hurricane Isaac and continuing problems at Midwestern refineries as they change over to less expensive winter fuels.
Nationally, the average is about $3.86. A year ago it was about $3.65. It hasn’t yet hit the recent peak of $3.91 in May 2011 or hit $4.04, as it did in early 2008.
