Summit County’s jobless rate showed a healthy drop last month.
The county jobless rate fell to 7.2 percent in February from 8 percent in January, according to figures the state released Tuesday.
Summit County’s unemployment rate a year ago was 8 percent.
Akron’s unemployment rate fell to 7.8 percent last month from 8.7 percent in January. The city’s rate a year ago was 8.8 percent.
Cuyahoga Falls had an unemployment rate of 6.9 percent in February, down from 7.7 percent in January and 7.4 percent in February 2012.
Jobless rates fell in all 88 counties, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported. Rates ranged from a low of 4.8 percent in Mercer County to a high of 13.7 percent in Pike County.
Ohio had a comparable jobless rate of 7.6 percent in February. Rates were not adjusted to take into account seasonal factors. Ohio’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for February was 7 percent.
Elsewhere in Northeast Ohio:
• Cuyahoga County’s unemployment rate was 7.7 percent in February, down from 8.3 percent in January and 7.9 percent a year ago. Cleveland’s jobless rate fell to 9.5 percent in February from 10.5 percent in January. The rate was 10.2 percent a year ago.
• Medina County’s unemployment rate dropped to 7.2 percent last month from 7.5 percent in January. The rate was 7.2 percent in February 2012.
• Portage County had an unemployment rate of 7.6 percent in February, down from 8.1 percent in January and 8.1 percent a year ago.
• Stark County’s jobless rate fell to 7.8 percent last month from 8.7 percent in January; the rate was 8.6 percent a year ago. Canton had a jobless rate of 8.4 percent in February, down from 9.8 percent in January and 9.9 percent a year ago.
• Wayne County’s unemployment rate fell to 6.5 percent last month from 7.3 percent in January. The rate was 7.2 percent a year ago.
