Akron SCORE, an area nonprofit group that provides small-business counseling, will offer “Simple Steps for Starting Your Business” workshops beginning May 16 and continuing weekly through June 20.
The free series consists of six, three-hour sessions that help evaluate an existing business or a new business idea.
All of the workshops will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Taylor Institute for Direct Marketing in the University of Akron’s Polsky Building, 225 S. Main St.
Applicants must commit to attending all six workshops. Enrollment is limited to 25 participants.
Workshop topics and dates are: Start-Up Basics, covering the requirements of starting a business, May 16; Business Concept, on creating a business plan, May 23; Marketing Plan, on marketing a product or service, May 30; Financial Projections, understanding business financials, June 6 and June 13, and Funding Sources, information on financing a small business, June 20.
Attendees completing the series will receive a certificate of completion signifying that they have successfully completed the course.
