Children from Richardson Elementary School in Cuyahoga Falls helped Acme Fresh Market officials flip the switch Tuesday to turn on the renovated historic Acme sign as part of the remodeling of the store.
The new State Road Acme was built over the existing store, which dates to 1949. The $8 million project expands the space to 52,000 square feet, or about 1½ times larger than the existing 33,000.
“Our customers have waited a long time and endured a lot during this monumental renovation,” said Acme President Steve Albrecht in a news release.
Construction was by Krumroy-Cozad Construction Corp. with Dan Cozad supervising. The architect is Robert White and decor by Julia Schumacher of Schumacher Designs.
