The International Tire Exhibition & Conference, held every two years, is splitting into two components in 2014 with one part coming to Akron and the other going to Florida.
ITEC’s tire manufacturing conference and trade show will take place Sept. 9-11, 2014, at Akron’s John S. Knight Center. The event for retail and commercial tire dealers and others will be Aug. 21-22 next year in Orlando, Fla.
The trade show is organized by Crain Communications Inc.’s publications Rubber & Plastics News and Tire Business.
The Knight center first hosted ITEC in 1994.
ITEC in 2010 expanded beyond its traditional tire manufacturing focus to include the entire tire industry and moved the event to the International Exposition Center next to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.
“For more than a decade, we had the distinct honor of welcoming delegates from around the world. Being able to open our doors once again to welcome this event and its attendees is especially exciting,” said John S. Knight Center president and chief executive officer Gregg Mervis in a news release. “We value our relationship with ITEC and appreciate the positive economic impact it has on our local economy through visitor expenditures on accommodations, dining, retail and entertainment.”
“ITEC is an event that reminds us of Akron’s heritage and the spirit of innovation that drives our continued growth,” Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic said in a news release.
