New Leadership Akron class

The civic group Leadership Akron announced its class of 34 people who will participate in its 2013-2014 program.

The 30th class includes executives and managers from business, government and nonprofit sectors.

The group said there were more than 80 applicants for the class.

The class will begin its activities with a city tour and two-day retreat.

Then one day each month will be devoted to gaining information on a variety of sectors in the community, including social services, health care, education, justice and others.

Members of the class will meet decision-makers and learn about issues in each particular field.

Members of the new class are:

• Lisa A. Aurilio, vice president, patient services and chief nursing officer, Akron Children’s Hospital

• Ken Babby, owner and chief executive officer, Akron Aeros

• Andrea K. Babjack; vice president, commercial banking, PNC Bank

• Danielle S. Barran, vice president and general manager, natural and specialty foods, J.M. Smucker Co.

• Michael A. Batu, first vice president, investment officer, Wells Fargo Advisors

• Allan W. Brown; vice president, general counsel, FedEx Custom Critical

• Michael J. Caprez, captain, Akron Police Department

• Randall A. Frame; regional president, Ohio Edison, FirstEnergy Corp.

• Christian R. Gadzinski, investor relations manager, Goodyear

• Martin D. Ganzer, program manager, Welty Building Co. Ltd

• Mr. John F. Garofalo, vice president, community investment, Akron Community Foundation

Leadership Akron offers the participants the opportunity to study community issues and helps with interaction with top decision-makers.
