Eight injection-well operators in 2012 hauled 835,471 barrels of well fluids from Ohio and 1,522,900 barrels from out of state to Portage County wells, according to state records.

That means that 64.6 percent of the barrels were from out of state, up from 55.1 percent in 2011.

Who are the big players in Portage County?

The companies are listed below along with the number of barrels if they were among the largest importers or domestic handlers:

• Texas-based Salty’s Disposal Wells — largest importer, 1,224,729 barrels at three injection wells in Nelson and Edinburg townships; in-state liquids of 177,156 barrels.

• Ray Pander Trucking Inc. in Portage County’s Palmyra Township — ranked second for imports, 279,841 barrels at two wells in Brimfield and Hiram townships; in-state liquids of 153,568 barrels.

• B & B Oilfield Service Inc. of Portage County’s Freedom Township; with in-state liquids of 136,835 barrels.

• Pursie E. Pipes of Mount Vernon, Ill. — handled the largest volume of Ohio liquids, 214,485 barrels.

• Texas-based Enervest Operating LLC.

• PT Services LLC of Poland, Ohio.

• Anarock Petroleum LLC of Cortland, Ohio.

• Resource Well Service of Deerfield Township.

Five injection wells took zero out-of-state liquids and nine did accept some wastes, according to state records.
