The McDonald’s restaurants in Cuyahoga Falls and Stow will begin to redevelop their locations.
Last week, the McDonald’s on Graham Road in Cuyahoga Falls temporarily closed to demolish and rebuild.
Employees were relocated temporarily to other locations until January, when the project is expected to be completed.
Cuyahoga Falls Planning Director Fred Guerra said that the city always likes to see investments of this type.
“This is something that they have been talking about for a long time and we are very happy that they are doing it,” Guerra said.
According to Rubber City McDonald’s President John Blickle, the estimated cost for the project is $3 million and 20 new jobs will be created.
Blickle said the new Falls store would have a modern interior and the latest cooking technology.
He said the McDonald’s on Massillon Road in Green is a model for the Graham Road design.
According to Blickle, the existing store was in great need of modification.
“That was the last one of our stores that had a basement,” Blickle said.
The McDonald’s location in Stow is now on Kent Road but will move near Hobby Lobby and the retail area on the same street.
“I believe the McDonald’s project will be an excellent addition to the shopping center,” Stow planning director Rob Kurtz said.
Kurtz said that he is happy that demolition of the existing location will allow for sale and redevelopment of that site.
