New car and light truck sales in Northeast Ohio totaled 22,004 in July, up 17.8 percent from 18,680 a year ago, the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association reported.
Sales since January total 135,379, up 9.8 percent from 123,252 for the same period in 2012, the dealers group said. Sales are based on registrations in a 21-county area.
Ford was the top-selling brand in July with 3,553 vehicles, up 12 percent from a year ago.
Chevrolet was the second-best seller with 3,205 vehicles, up 37 percent from 2,339 a year ago.
Toyota was in third place with 1,984 sales, up 22.2 percent from a year ago.
Used vehicle sales in Summit County in July totaled 3,061, up 16.5 percent from 2,628 a year ago, according to the Northeast Ohio Automobile Dealers Association.
Used vehicle sales in the county since Jan. 1 were at 20,467, up 5.8 percent from 19,347 for the same period a year ago.
