Timken names executives
Timken Co.’s executive vice president and chief financial officer, Glenn A. Eisenberg, will leave the company next year after it spins off its steel business. The Canton company announced other impending executive changes as well.
When the spinoff is complete in about 12 months, with a separate steel and a bearings and power transmission business, Philip D. Fracassa and Christopher J. Holding will become CFOs of the two independent publicly traded companies.
Fracassa, senior vice president, will continue to lead planning and development at Timken and will oversee the project management office charged with facilitating the split of the two businesses.
Holding, who leads tax and treasury, will become CFO of the new steel company.
Eisenberg has been at Timken for 12 years. Timken President and Chief Executive Officer James W. Griffith previously announced he will retire once the separation is completed.

TECHNOLOGY
Yahoo video is changing
Yahoo is auditioning for a bigger role on iPhones and iPads with the release of its first mobile application tailored for watching video on touch-control screens. The app is called Yahoo Screen. It’s set up to make the experience of sifting through video on smartphones and tablet computers more like channel surfing on a television. The Monday debut included Yahoo rolling out eight comedy series made exclusively for its website. Also available are clips from more than 700 episodes of NBC’s Saturday Night Live broadcast during the past 38 years.
TELEVISION
NBC game show popular
For Subway restaurants, NBC’s The Million Second Quiz trivia show is no stumper — it’s a chance to put its sandwiches in front of viewers for almost two weeks in a row.
The live game show debuted Monday night on Comcast Corp.’s television network, with plans calling for it to run 12 days without interruption, online and for one hour in prime time. The novel format has shown promise, with more than 300,000 downloads of the app and 11 million playing online before the show started.
NBC and its partners, which include Eveready Battery Co. and Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn, are betting the approach will work. Audience members compete at home for footlong Subway sandwiches and a chance to play on the set in New York with a Subway restaurant and Eveready-sponsored “Money Chair.”
