COLUMBUS: Ohio’s average gas price is about the same as the national average as the week begins.
The state average for a gallon of regular gas was $3.48 in the Monday survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX Inc. That’s up 9 cents from a week ago but is 25 cents cheaper than the price a year ago.
Monday’s national average was a penny cheaper at $3.47 per gallon, down a nickel from $3.52 a week earlier. The national average at this time last year was significantly higher at $3.81.
Last week, AAA reported Ohio had reached a notable benchmark — more than 1,000 consecutive days with gas prices topping $3. Experts don’t expect the streak to stop anytime soon.
