The Beacon Journal asked readers to share their thoughts on products being tested for our “Does It Work?” series. Here’s what they had to say:
Strutz
“I have used Strutz arch supports. I have fallen arches, and use prescribed orthotics. Strutz provide good support while I practice yoga in bare feet. They are also good in slippers, but are too bulky to use inside shoes.”

Forever Comfy
Susan Singleton of Wadsworth bought the product for more cushioning and height for her work chair. She’s had it for about five to six months.
“As with most things, it started out fine. The foam has since flattened and I have co-workers who insist upon storing a cushion on its side instead of flat.
‘‘You would think the gel would flatten back out when laid flat in seat, but alas, that is not the case.
‘‘You feel like you’re sitting on uneven rounded rocks for the day. ... Would not buy again.”
Barbara Burger of Uniontown had a grandson recovering from a serious accident earlier this year.
The Forever Comfy cushion was similar to and cheaper than the gel cushion on his hospital wheelchair.
“It worked through his recovery period. Without one it would have been very painful for him to sit without something soft.
‘‘It was a great deal for only $19.99.”
Table-Mate
Susan Singleton of Wadsworth also bought the Table-Mate for her and her husband to use to eat dinner while watching TV or for the laptop.
“For the most part, it does its job. It’s handy. The adjustable table top is easy to adjust, though it can collapse on you if you’re not careful sliding it up to you.
“The legs are adjustable for storage, but it really is a chore to get them to the flattened stage ... would prefer the tray to be metal instead of plastic.”
