Mobile TV ready
Time Warner Cable Inc. has made live local TV station signals available on an application for mobile devices called TWC TV in Los Angeles and San Diego, taking one further step on the industry’s promise of making TV programming more available.
The signals only work for TV subscribers who are also Time Warner Cable Internet customers and are on their home Wi-Fi network.
The addition of the local ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox affiliates, among about 50 other stations, rounds out a lineup of more than 100 live TV channels that can be watched on smartphones, computers, tablets, Roku streaming devices, Samsung smart TVs or Xbox 360 consoles.
The move is part of a four-year-old industry initiative called “TV Everywhere,” which is meant to enhance the benefits of a pay TV subscription and dissuade customers from dropping service in favor of video streaming services like Netflix and free TV that can be accessed with an antenna.
CBS Corp. invested in a digital video delivery company called Syncbak. Fox, a unit of Twenty-First Century Fox Inc., is backing a mobile offering called Dyle Mobile for on-the-go viewing but it requires a mobile antenna attachment that is sold separately.

A new Honda/Acura luxury model is being developed and will be made in Central Ohio.
Acura plans to debut the 2015 Acura TLX Prototype performance luxury sedan at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month, the automaker said.
“The TLX will mark the debut of a new name for Acura’s mid-size modern luxury sedan entry, replacing the outgoing TL model,” Honda said in a statement.
The TLX Prototype was designed in Acura’s Los Angeles studio and the production model is being developed by Acura engineers at the company’s Ohio research and development center in Liberty. It will also be produced at the Marysville auto plant 1, home to the current Acura TL.
Honda has some 14,000 Ohio employees, including a distribution center in Troy. Some 1,000 Dayton-area residents commute to Honda facilities around the state each day, the automaker has said. Honda spends about $9.2 billion on Ohio suppliers, the company has said.
