LORDSTOWN, OHIO: Last year was a good one for the Ohio-built Chevrolet Cruze.
Sales of the General Motors compact increased by 4.4 percent in 2013, according to the Vindicator newspaper. The car is built in the GM plant in Lordstown.
The overall increase came despite a 14.5-percent decrease in sales in December, according to figures released Friday. The Cruze sold 18,162 units last month, compared with 21,230 during the same period a year ago.
But sales of the Cruze for the year registered 248,224 units — 10,466 more than in 2012.
The Cruze is Chevrolet’s second best-selling vehicle behind the Silverado pickup truck.
GM’s overall sales also were up for the year.
