Small-business owners can learn the basics of the Affordable Care Act and what it means for their companies and employees during a free U.S. Small Business Administration-sponsored seminar in Akron on Feb. 21.
The federal health-care-reform law requires businesses with 50 or more full-time employees to provide health insurance. Though the Obama administration has delayed the penalty businesses would face if they did not comply with this mandate until 2015, the federal government and state governments have established marketplaces where businesses can buy group insurance plans.
At the seminar in Akron, small-business owners will hear presentations from SBA officials and will be able to ask questions about the implementation of the new health-care law.
The seminar will run from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Akron Global Business Accelerator, the business incubator located in the former B.F. Goodrich complex in downtown Akron. Participants will gather in the ninth-floor Community Room (room 904) of the facility, which is at 526 S. Main St.
Parking is available on site.
On-site registration is to begin at 9 a.m. For advance registration, email lrees@akronsbdc.org or call 330-375-2111.
