A veteran administrator for the new owner of the former Sumner on Ridgewood has come to Northeast Ohio to lead the retirement community.
Charlene L. Kish, vice president of skilled nursing and rehabilitation for Concordia Lutheran Ministries, recently was named chief executive of the Copley property, now known as Concordia at Sumner.
Kish also serves as administrator of another Concordia property, Concordia at Cabot in suburban Pittsburgh.
“I was very attracted to the opportunity to bring our services to Ohio, to expand our services to a whole new area,” she said.
Kish has been on Concordia’s senior staff since 1999. She is a licensed nursing home administrator and registered nurse, having started her career as a cardiac nurse.
“I’ve always had a passion for creating environments where people could reach their full potential,” she said. “Quality of care has always been a passion of mine.”
Along with her nursing degree, Kish has a bachelor’s degree in business management and master’s in health-care administration.
In her new role, Kish is overseeing the staff of about 170 employees and developing plans to add and improve services, particularly enhanced onsite rehabilitation.
