A Kent company that provides fire protection services to large commercial and industrial clients is growing.

County Fire Protection recently purchased Johnson Fire Safety Solutions of Grove City, Ohio. It is the first acquisition for the company, which opened in 1999. Terms were not disclosed.

The purchase allows the company to further expand in the Columbus market, said County Fire President John Lubinski.

“We were just starting to establish ourselves in Columbus. It allows us to continue to grow in that area. We have a concentration in Northeast Ohio and the western portion of the state,” Lubinski said.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed and one employee, including Adam Johnson, the former owner of Johnson Fire Safety, joined the company. The sale bought Johnson’s customer base in Columbus.

County Fire Protection handles sales and services for all types of fire protection equipment, serving Ohio and parts of West Virginia from offices in Kent, Toledo and Columbus. One service the company provides is a yearly inspection of fire extinguishers within a facility. Among its clients are large retailers and the banking industry.

The company has 26 staffers, mostly inspection technicians.

Lubinski said he will look for more expansion opportunities.
