Former space shuttle astronaut Ronald M. Sega is the next keynote speaker at the Akron Roundtable luncheon program.
He is director of Ohio State’s Office of Energy and Environment and is a vice president at the university.
Sega, a Nordonia High School graduate, will speak at noon Jan. 17 at Quaker Station in downtown Akron. His topic is Leadership in Sustainability: Energy, Aerospace and Ohio. He will speak about his background in energy and sustainability, his experience in the military and his space career, his upbringing in Northeast Ohio and the current state of the energy and aerospace industries.
Sega is chairman of Ohio State’s President’s and Provost’s Council on Sustainability and chairman of Colorado State’s Sustainability, Energy and Environment Advisory Committee. He is also the Woodward Professor of Systems Engineering, Director of Graduate Studies in Systems Engineering at Colorado State.
His background includes serving as undersecretary of the Air Force from 2005-2007. He retired from the Air Force Reserve in 2005 as a major general after 31 years of service.
He flew aboard the space shuttles Discovery in 1994 and Atlantis in 1996.
