The owner of Patio Enclosures — the Macedonia-headquartered manufacturer and installer of sunrooms — continues to add to its home improvement portfolio.
Great Day Improvements LLC said Thursday it had acquired Stanek Vinyl Window Co.’s operating assets for an undisclosed price.
Steve White, managing partner of Great Day Improvements, said Thursday that his company would relocate Stanek’s production work — including roughly 25 manufacturing employees — from Cuyahoga Heights to the Patio Enclosures/Great Day Improvements facility in Macedonia. The Stanek showroom will remain in Cuyahoga Heights.
Great Day Improvements, a Northeast Ohio private equity group, acquired Patio Enclosures in early 2011 for an undisclosed amount. Patio Enclosures’ Macedonia facility is home to about 150 of Great Day Improvements’ 300-plus employees.
White said the purchase of Stanek is “one of several initiatives we’ve executed to transform and expand Great Day Improvements into a one-stop home improvement company.”
White noted that Stanek and Patio Enclosures are considered both local, stalwart brands, with Stanek beginning about 60 years ago and Patio Enclosures dating to 1966.
“There aren’t that many original Cleveland brands left any more, and that’s two of them,” White said.
Great Day Improvements’ partners formed the private equity group in 2010 and that same year acquired aluminum extruding company Central Aluminum in Obetz, Ohio, outside Columbus. In 2011, Great Day Improvements acquired Patio Enclosures and SoftWall Finishing Systems, a maker of fabric-covered wall panels, moving SoftWall’s operations from Medina County to Macedonia.
Since acquiring Patio Enclosures, Great Day Improvements has expanded its retail operation, in addition to its dealer network. It now has 20 company-owned retail branches and 10 franchise sites.
